The raised edge runs the whole way round so your baby feels held rather than adrift on a flat surface, and the cushioned base keeps them lying level.
The cover is double gauze cotton muslin, a loose weave that lets air move through it instead of trapping heat against the skin. It comes off and goes in the machine, which matters more than it sounds at three months in.

Care instructions
It travels vacuum packed, which is why it looks thinner out of the box than it does in the photos. Cut the wrapping well away from the fabric, then leave it 5 to 10 minutes to open out to full size.
Give it a wash before you use it the first time. Being packed tight leaves creases, and one wash lifts the pile back up.
The cover is removable, machine wash in cold water on a gentle cycle, then tumble dry on low heat or air dry.
Do not use bleach or iron it.

Why does it look flat when it arrives?
It is shipped compressed to cut the box size. Once you open it and let it sit, the filling expands back to the shape shown in the photos. Cut the packaging well clear of the fabric.
Can my baby sleep in it?
No. It is for supervised rest and play with your baby in sight. Naps and overnight sleep should happen on a firm flat surface with nothing loose in the cot.
