A sun hat rated UPF 113 with a long flap down the back — 7.3 in on the smallest size — which covers the neck, the place that catches the sun while a child is looking down at sand.
The main fabric is polyamide with a cooling touch finish and mesh panels through the crown, so heat escapes rather than building up. It wicks and dries quickly, has a 7A antibacterial finish, and adjusts at both the chin and the head circumference.

Brim in Front, Flap Behind
A wide front brim shades the face while an extended flap covers the back of the neck and the ears, which is the part a cap leaves exposed. The fabric carries a UPF 113 rating.
Two Straps to Adjust
A chin strap keeps the hat on in wind and a separate head circumference strap tightens the fit, so each size covers a range rather than one exact measurement. Mesh panels vent the crown.

Which size should I order?
Sizes are set by head circumference: 20.5 to 21.3 inches for the 2 to 5 band, 21.3 to 22 inches for 6 to 11, and a larger 12 years size. Measure around the forehead.
Does the neck flap come off?
The flap is part of the hat rather than a detachable piece, which is what keeps the coverage consistent across the neck and ears while your child is outside.
Is it hot to wear?
Mesh panels let air through the crown and the fabric is a cooling-touch, moisture-wicking polyamide, so it dries quickly after a hot afternoon or a splash.
How do I wash it?
Hand wash it in cold water with a mild detergent and air dry it fully. A machine wash or tumble dryer will distort the brim, and the iron will mark the fabric.
